Welcome to the full moon in cancer; the last full moon of the year which will look full for the next couple of days and it's energies will remain strong. Named the Cold Moon by the Mohawks due to it's frigidity, as well as The Long Night Moon, being so close to the longest night at winter solstice, this moon marks the beginning of shorter nights and longer days.
Cancer, the home-maker of astrology, is in the full moon, it's ruling planet, contrasting with go-getting Aquarius in the sun. This creates a bit of a dilemma. The heart pulls you towards emotional security, safety at home whilst the head is is wanting to lead the way but potentially ignoring vital emotional needs. It is a time to make choices wisely using both head and heart and achieve balance with your emotions and your practical daily life.
This can be a very emotional time of year for many people, be it joyous reunions or spending the festive season alone, and hundreds of other reasons in between. This moon can create stronger feelings, your emotions will be heightened with the energies that this moon puts out. So look for that balance, look within to your true self and move forward in to the new year keeping your balance with every step forward.
