Happy approaching Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and Midwinter in the Southern world on June 21 at 02.42 UTC,( late June 20 in some time zones.(see www.timeanddate.com for the precise time in your location).

The sun reaches full height in Northern climes and at the same time the sun is reborn in the Southern hemisphere. Many celebrate the Solstice for three days around this time. As the Sun enters Cancer, so family, especially mothers and children, partnership, friendships, community move to the fore in priority and perhaps for reconciliation and appreciation of what we have as well as what is lacking that may not be too late to kindle or rekindle.

Wherever you live you can benefit from the fusion of solar power as a time to make a renewed effort if things haven’t worked out or to maximise opportunities at this solar point of contrasts fuse cosmically into one.

For the Solstice opens a window of great good fortune in both hemispheres. Whether you want to change a run of bad luck or take advantage of the infusion of sun power to make life more as you want it and to break through barriers and restrictions, try the following ritual. By the next Solstice you will be amazed how far you have come through your own efforts and that magical solar input in just six months.

Think lucky and you’ll be lucky, act fortunate and the energies of good fortune will be drawn to you to give shimmering sunshine substance whatever the weather, to your dreams- so you can and will shine in the world.

Happy Solstice and may light always shine in your life.

Try this around Solstice morn or eve for seven consecutive days.

  • You will need: A long green cord or ribbon. The Ritual: On day 1 tie the first knot in your cord or ribbon, moving over the coming days from the bottom to the top of the cord and tying knots at equal intervals, saying Today I bind good fortune in.
  • On day 2 tie the second knot, saying, That I will have the power to win.
  • On Day 3 tie the third, saying, That happiness prospers and shines once more
  • On Day 4 tie the fourth, saying, And good luck knocks upon my door
  • On Day 5 tie the fifth, saying, So ventures and adventures grow by the score
  • On Day 6, tie the sixth, saying, Achievement following the more I strive.
  • On Day 7, tie the seventh, saying, That good times will grow, flourish and thrive. Hang the cord inside the front door and whenever you need a boost in happiness, healing or good luck, touch each knot, saying its words. Every Midsummer or Midwinter six months ahead replace the old cord and burn it or bury the old one beneath thriving flowers.

Happy Solstice and may light shine or return to our lives.
