Happy Full Flower Moon in Scorpio on May 1 at 17.23 UTC, as it was named by the Ojibwe people of the Great Lakes. It is the time in the Northern hemisphere when the flowers and trees are blossoming anew, birds making their nests and young animals appearing in the fields.
The Algonquin name it the Corn Planting Moon and the Cree nation Leaf Budding Moon. The Creek and Choctaw nations call it the Mulberry moon and the Lakota the Moon of the Green leaves. For the rising of this full moon heralds the transition to summer in the northern lands with the blooming of the flowers.
Although this Flower moon is a Micro-moon, furthest from earth and is smaller and dimmer than the average full moon, its Scorpio intensity ensures it shines a beacon of hope in a world where its light is most needed right now (see www.timeanddate.com for time of moon rise in your location).
It is the first of two Full Moons in May, the second being called the Blue moon on May 31 that makes this a significant month for lunar influences.
The Flower Moon is especially magical since it appears on May Day in many locations, so heralding the beginning of the old Celtic Summer and a major fertility festival called Beltaine lasting from April 30 sunset to May 2 sunset (see Beltane festival in the next post).
The full moon in Scorpio is the moon of growth and transformation within us even if the outer world is in conflict, a reminder each of us has a voice that can collectively be heard if enough people seek resolution.
The angel of this moon is Bariel, angel of small miracles. Though the world is filled with war, causing financial hardship and limitations on lives even beyond the war zones, Bariel says we must strive to move into our own inner light to effect positive change that may radiate into the wider world.
In our own lives too through making a supreme effort we can open even seemingly intractable doors of personal opportunity or discover maybe that wasn’t the right door after all.

- Light a white candle, holding a white crystal or stone to it, saying A talisman of future days, A charm to guide my life to more fruitful ways.,
- Extinguish the purple candle, burying the purple stone.
- Blow out the grey candle, tossing the grey stone into the air in an open space.
- Leave the white candle burning and carry the white crystal as a talisman.
