Welcome to the Full Sturgeon Moon on August 28

This eclipse is visible from North America, Europe, the UK and Africa. With August’s meteor showers and earlier in the month the full solar eclipse, this full moon culminates in a major cosmic explosion of cleansing energy, reflected on earth.

The moon enters Pisces on August 27 transiting to Aries late on August 29  (see www.timeanddate.com for  the precise time and dates in your region).

It is called the Full Sturgeon Moon. The name Sturgeon Moon recalls the giant prehistoric long living fish, dating back 200 million years, some of whom may survive up to 150 years. Once sturgeon were plentiful at the time of this moon in the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain and though in smaller numbers today, still herald the coming of the harvest.

For the Ojibwe people the full moon marks the harvesting of the wild rice. This moon is called by the Shawnee nation of the American Midwest the Plum Moon and by the Lakota people Moon of Ripening.

A reassessment as emotions fluctuate rather than a time for action, which will follow as the moon moves into Aries late on August  29,  for listening to what is meant rather than said perhaps in haste, like the ancient fish setting events, situations and changeable reactions into their long-term context and not overturning long-term beliefs on an impulse.

For the flowing Pisces Full Moon is the moon of cascading emotions. She laughs and cries at the same time, says, this can never be and in an instant is back laughing mischievously, dries the tears and dances for the sheer joy of being alive. She tells us where there is sorrow there will follow joy - and more tears, but then laughter again and the  possibility of recreating or mending what now lies shattered.

There are no guarantees of forever, says this moon. Yet we cannot hold back for fear of being hurt or failing. On this moon we must drink deep of life and squeeze every moment of pleasure and treasure the precious moments and if we are wounded pick ourselves up again and again and again.

The Pisces Full Moon is a moon for new love, love after loss or calling back old temporarily abandoned love, for music and the performing arts, for truth softened by kindness, for balancing two commitments or having two careers and juggling both successfully, for adaptability, merging two families and for using our hidden telepathic powers when our mobiles are out of range and everyday words fail.

Lady Moon helps us to overcome rivalries of people or demands pulling you in different directions. There is enough love for all, for life is a rich casserole and -the more that is added the more it can be shared ever more widely, not like a cake to be portioned and fighting over crumbs. This moon reconciles quarrels, assists the amicable resolution of custody or divorce disputes, blesses the homeless, the dispossessed and those who do live by the ethics of what feels honourable.
