Welcome to the Hunters’ or Travellers’ Moon full moon in Aries, on October 17 at 11.26 UTC. Hunters’ Moon is the Anglo Saxon name for the traditional time in the Northern hemisphere, especially in Northern Europe, Scandinavia and among the Native North American people for hunting animals and preserving the meat for winter (see www.timeanddate.com for the full moon rise in your location). In the southern hemisphere too, this Arian moon kick-starts or restarts those plans that ran out of steam and have been filed away under maybe one day.
It is therefore the moon of actively seeking what is needed for the future in any and every way, rather than waiting for life and luck to bring a home delivery. It is called the Falling Leaves Moon by the Anishinaabe nation. Its name among the Cree people is Migrating Moon when birds are flying south to warmer climes and so a reminder time for action is not infinite.
Known also as the Blood Moon with its orange glow, this Hunter’s moon is a Supermoon, moving closer to the earth than any other moon this year. It rises around sunset and sets around sunrise and appears full in the days immediately surrounding the actual full moon dates, looking otherworldly and impatient for her grand entrance to make the seemingly impossible possible.
The message of the focused Hunter’s moon in Aries is go forward confidently and boldly without hesitation to what you most need which may be different from what you want or think you want.
The Moon in Aries is a dynamic moon offering courage, the impetus for swift and decisive action, favouring self-reliance, self–employment, independent ventures as money spinners, recovering health, launching major life changes, maximising a sudden burst of energy and acting on an overwhelming passion for life and perhaps a special person before the right movement disappears with the wane.
If you suffer from bullying, aggressiveness and inertia or cynicism in others, this is the moon that says, Back off. The justice and fair play aspects of its solar partner Libra make this moon supportive of all those who live under harsh regimes, lack equality and human rights, and personally for anyone trapped in an abusive, controlling or destructive situation; an impetus too for defeating fears, phobias and destructive addictions in self or loved ones.
Hit ultimatums and even threats head on, not letting the 2am scary spooks in your head hold you back from taking or perhaps reclaiming what is rightfully yours and that includes respectful treatment. Don’t wait, don’t hesitate and when that moon is spinning in the sky you will be ready for reaching for achievement without looking back or doubting yourself.
- Light a dark blue candle and put a pinch of pepper in the flame saying, Defeat or holding back from life and love through fear of loss or failure is not an option.
- Light a bright red candle from the blue one and add a pinch of salt to the flame saying, Burn bright and light the way to victory I take the power of the moon and shall not hesitate, need not wait. I make my Destiny, what I most seek can be.
- Extinguish the blue candle and leave the red one to burn while you clear the decks for activity so when the Aries moonlight pours full into your life, you can in spite of the wars and suffering in the world, make your corner of life bright and beautiful and spread goodwill and the impetus for change to all you meet.
